5 QT Cast Iron Dutch oven
I am very pleased with my new Dutch oven. It came in a timely fashion, well packaged, and in the expected condition (not to mention that it was on sale with free shipping to boot).
You may find it is rough to the touch at first, but it will wear with time and use. Soon you will have a smooth black pot that is even easier to clean; and to dry with a paper towel.
We started purchasing Lodge products exclusively here of late and replaced all of our pans, pots etc. not made in the US.
Lodge is the only manufacturer that we are aware of that still sells their products made here in the US. I may be mistaken, BUT just as importantly, they are fair priced. I would buy from them regardless of any other sellers. I have been happy with every one of my purchases. We own three different-sized frying pans, muffin pans, a two-sided griddle, and now this Dutch oven. I prefer them all to my other NON USA cast iron items and can see and feel the difference.

Great Cookware
My family and I all use iron cookware and have several pieces of Lodge Iron cookware. We bought the 5-Quart Dutch Oven for my niece as we have enjoyed ours for so many years. She was DELIGHTED to receive it for Christmas and is learning the joys of cooking with iron cookware. AND its Made In the USA ! Thank you Amazon and Lodge.
kitchen workhorse
Solid, well-made cast iron pot. My only complaint is that pots of this type are no longer machined inside to provide a smooth bottom and sides, so the casting has a textured surface that's harder to clean. When you see an old Griswold at a tag sale, buy it if you can.
LOVE IT
Awesome Dutch oven. It is easy to use on the stove top or the oven. It also works on the bbq grill. It is so versatile you can saute the onions and garlic in butter on the range and then add a roast and pop it in the oven to finish. It also is the perfect size for dessert. A pie filling or can of peaches covered with a yellow cake mix and coved with either a can of sprite or 4 Tbs butter in pats with a pinch of cinnamon works every time
Still the Best
You can spend four times the amount for a fancy french dutch oven, or get the Lodge. I have both the 5 QT. and 7 QT. And they are great! Of all my pots and pans (and I have all the top brands) the Lodge dutch ovens get used the most. A tried and true product that needs no improvement.
